Traditionally Goonabandi and his relatives lived in caves. This is one of the ancestral caves where his grandparents lived as they moved around the Jungle following the game and gathering the wild food plants. This cave is under the rock with the tree growing over it.

Demonstrating how to climb up to get wild honey. Honey is a great delicacy and Veddah men and boys will climb up creepers on steep rock faces to reach the wild bee hives. Nowadays they sell the honey to visitors.
