There is much marine life to be seen off the beaches using a snorkel, fins and mask. However there are uncertain currents and many of the exposed beaches are dangerous for swimmers, therefore it is often best to engage a local snorkelling guide who knows the best and safest snorkelling reefs. This provides additional income for local fishermen. Sometimes they will guide from the beach or take tourists out to the nearby reefs, swim with them ensuring their safety as well as guiding the snorkellers around the most spectacular parts of the reefs.
