Sanni Demons’ Dances
Next followed the dances of the Sannis. 8 Sanni Demons danced on this occasion. The format was the same as for the Mahasona Tovils - see previous sections under “Morning Watch” of “Dances”.
First Pandampaliya danced. This is the demon with the lion like mask. When he dances there is never interchange with the Drummer.
Then the old man - Kendipaliya.
The remainder of the Sanni Demons followed the usual sequence and the audience was greatly amused by the interchanges with the Drummer.
At dawn the Tovil finished.
