These additional Sanni demons danced during the 3 night Tsunami Tovil held in Ambalantota Market in 2005. This Tovil was paid for by the Ambalantota Police to help the community recover from the terrible trauma of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami that killed and injured so many from Hambantota District, flooded paddyfields, destroyed homes and businesses. Many in the audiences were victims of the devastation but reported that the ceremony with its songs, dances and “comic interviews” of the sanni demons had helped to calm them .
