The Poson Peraheras
These Peraheras are held in June and commemorate the forbidding of hunting at Mihintale, so one float always depicts this scene and another depicts Hell.
The Hell float: this depicts Hell. A sinner is tied to the spiked pole and devils of Hell are beating him . Black, sulphurous smoke belches out.
Shops on the route may organise a special Poson display
