Unlucky Dates & Times

Every now & then it is announced that a certain date & time is very unlucky & inauspicious. Families will take action.  For example the evening of  November 15th 2011 was one such very unlucky and dangerous time. Neighbours warned each other and advised on the preventive actions to be taken.

In front of the entrance a woven coconut leaf “house” was placed

Different coloured flowers and leaves were prepared

The flowers and leaves were then placed inside

Next white thread was twisted and mixed with turmeric

The owner prays for protection

Here it remains until the dangerous  unlucky time has passed

Whilst reciting a special mantra the white thread is threaded onto a leaf. One end is placed in the “house”

The other end of the string with the attached leaf is fixed to the entrance of the house
